Weekend/Relief House Coordinator:
Gift of Life Family House, the non-profit subsidiary of the Gift of Life Donor Program, has an exceptional opportunity for a newly experienced hospitality professional to handle the weekend operations of the Gift of Life Family House.
You will be responsible for the operations of Gift of Life Family House during the weekends during day, evening and overnight hours (a 24 hour shift/on-call in the building during the overnight sleeping hours), including on-site management of volunteers, maintaining safe, secure, comfortable and hospitable environment for families and on-site property management.
You will supervise Volunteers, Interns and provide direction to part time housekeeping and maintenance staff (or contracted employees) to ensure the safe, operations of the Family House and to ensure that adequate coverage is provided through staff and volunteers during all hours of operation. You will participate in shift change report-off with Day House Manager, Evening Resident House Manager and/or Social Worker.
Bachelor's Degree and two years experience in hotel, hospitality, and customer relations or a service management related field is required. Must demonstrate the ability to work independently, develop and carry out plans/goals, multi-task on several projects concurrently, prioritize daily activities and manage unexpected increases in workload.
Must possess excellent communication, organizational and creative thinking skills; ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations; display a professional demeanor and appearance; demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy; remain aware of internal and external client needs; act in a courteous, positive and responsive manner and willingly support a cooperative team effort. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft office required.

Development Intern
This is an excellent internship opportunity for a student majoring in a college level Public Relations program to support Gift of Life Family House Administration and Development initiatives.
Gift of Life Family House, the non-profit subsidiary of the Gift of Life Donor Program, is a program that provides hotel & hospitality services to transplant recipients, families and guests.
This is an excellent internship opportunity for a student majoring in a college level Public Relations program to support Gift of Life Family House Administration and Development initiatives.
Responsibilities include:
- Assists with planning, assembling of materials and special projects for (and possibly attend) third-party fundraising events.
- Assists with developmental elements and organization of Family House Meal Program.
- Assists in preparing, compiling and producing marketing and communication materials for Family House initiatives and programs, in conjunction with staff, committee members, consultants, vendors, volunteers, financial contributors and sponsors.
- Prepares materials for meetings, appointments and presentations.
- Proofreads copy for spelling, grammar, and layout, making appropriate changes necessary to achieve accuracy and clarity.
- Prepares, organizes and facilitates mass mailings and general mail.
- Maintains and updates electronic and manual filing system, retrieves information from files when needed.

Guest Services Intern (mutilple openings starting in August)
Gift of Life Family House, the non-profit subsidiary of the Gift of Life Donor Program, has internship opportunities for students enrolled in a college level Hotel and Hospitality Management Program, who seek a hands on service experience providing hotel & hospitality services to transplant recipients, families and guests.
The Guest Services Intern will provide families residing at the Family House with a pleasant and comfortable stay by assisting staff and volunteers with the daily operations of the GLFH and by providing support to the families as needed throughout the duration of their stay. Responsibilities include:
- Answering and directing incoming calls
- Checking families in and out, as well as tracking potential room availability
- Performing guest orientation and GLFH tours
- Filling open rooms by notifying those on the guest waiting list
- Identifying and preparing vacant rooms for incoming families
- Providing general assistance, service and support activities to all guests and staff
- Performing daily GLFH operations tasks as requested by staff
- Assisting in the coordination of food services and inventory assessment
- Assisting with special events, projects, fundraising and committee work
Successful interns will be enrolled in a college level Hospitality Management Program; will demonstrate an ease in developing and maintaining work relationships with staff and volunteers; will display a professional demeanor and appearance; will demonstrate poise, tact and diplomacy; will remain aware of internal and external client needs; will act in a courteous, positive and responsive manner; will possess the ability to work independently or as part of a team, and will be able to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
