Gift of Life Family House opened its doors in July of 2011 to serve patients and caregivers waiting for or undergoing an organ transplant at any of the Philadelphia area’s eight transplant centers. An affiliate of Gift of Life Donor Program, the Family House serves as a ‘home away from home’ for transplant patients and their families. Conveniently located at 401 Callowhill Street in Philadelphia, this special facility ensures that the circle of care is complete for adult and pediatric transplant patients and their families by offering temporary, affordable lodging and supportive services to those traveling to Philadelphia for their transplant-related care.
What we provide to families: 
- 30 private guest rooms accommodating up to 4 guests with private bathroom and cable tv
- Comfortable communal areas
- Living room
- Kitchen
- Dining Room
- Fitness and Wellness Center
- Family Activity Room
- Resident Laundry Facilities
- Family Lounges
- Outdoor Patio
- Shuttle Service to and from all Philadelphia transplant centers
- Wireless Internet Access
- On-site Resident Manager and Day Manager to provide 24 hour support
- Secure on-site parking for each family
- Full-time Social Worker on staff
- Dinner served each night at 6:00PM and Brunch served on the weekends
- Fully Stocked Pantry available 24 hours a day to families
Families we serve:
Solid organ transplant recipients and their families as well as solid organ living donors and their families are eligible as long as they meet the following requirements:
- Guests must live at least 25 miles away from the Family House
- The patient must be currently undergoing transplant related treatment at one of the 8 area transplant centers (Pre-transplant and post-transplant appointments included)

How much it costs for families:
We ask each family to pay $40 per room per night although the actual cost to provide lodging and services to families is approximately $150 per night. This fee is much lower than that of any of the area hotels and the amenities and support services we offer to transplant families is uniquely available at the Family House.
