Volunteer Opportunities
Gift of Life Family House relies on volunteers to help maintain the house operations and support the programs offered to our transplant families. By joining our team of volunteers will learn how to be a vital part our program. We are now accepting applications!
Guest Services
Guest Services volunteers work closely with staff and guest families by helping to answer the phones, greet families and visitors at the door, register new families, prepare guests’ rooms, and lend a hand with special mailings and administrative needs. Must be 18 years of age to volunteer, Teens 15-17 must be accompanied by an adult.
Evening Kitchen Specialist (must be a trained guest services volunteer)
Kitchen specialists help provide a great experience for the Home Cook Heroes groups as well as a nourishing meal for the guests. Additionally, for nights when there are no Home Cook Heroes groups, Kitchen Supervisors are needed to assist management and staff with all aspects of preparing, serving and cleaning up meals. Be a Home Cook Hero
Groups of up to 5-10 people are able to provide, prepare (on or off site), serve and clean up a meal for 50-60 people. This is a very rewarding opportunity and the impact of your service on our families will be seen and felt first-hand. Click here for more information.
Prepare Baked Goods for Families
To fill the Family House with delicious smells like at home, individuals or small groups, bake cookies, brownies and other treats in our kitchen. This fun activity is a great way for Girl Scout troops, or school clubs, for example, to directly experience the remarkable power of volunteerism.
Join a Speakers Bureau
Family House Speakers Bureau volunteers are available to come to your group or organization to provideinformation about the Family House.
Host a Wish List Drive
Keeping our House stocked with basic home necessities requires a lot of donated food and supplies. Every few months, we update our wish list of needed items – food, household goods, sample size toiletries and office supplies. Click here for more information.
Host Arts & Crafts, Games, and Family Activities
Individuals or small groups may organize, furnish supplies and lead a craft activity for family members staying at the House. Volunteers can also host a game event or activity such as bingo or board games.
